Once you meet your awesome Jamaican tour guide
at the cruise port of Montego Bay
, you will begin your adventure along Jamaica’s scenic Northern coastline in a clean, air-conditioned mini bus making your first stop at the Christopher Columbus Park
. This is the place where Christopher Columbus is said to have first set foot on the beautiful island of Jamaica. You will see an old shipwreck ruin and other items from daily life in the 19th Century.
From Columbus Park, your private tour guide
will take you up the rugged and beautiful roads that carve through the famous Jamaican mountains. This is a bumpy but awe-inspiring ride as you pass by old plantations
, tiny villages
and listen to the stories your guide tells of fair Jamaica. The landscape is truly breathtaking and the vegetation is lush with fruit trees
of all kinds lining the roadside. The people in the mountain villages live very basic lives but are always jovial. They are one with the earth. Watch out as the young kids race alongside your bus, roll down your window, feel the fresh mountain wind in your face, listen to the beats of Bob Marley on the speakers and maybe even pop open a Jamaican Red Stripe Beer
, which will be provided to you for free on your trip!
Your next stop on this adventure is Nine Miles
, the birthplace and final resting place of the legendary Bob Marley
. At the Bob Marley Mausoleum you will be taken on a guided tour of the small home where Bob Marley was born and raised. The admission fee (included in tour price) goes toward the maintenance of the Mausoleum and to his family members, many of whom still live in this very area and who assist thousands of Bob Marley
fans to pay their respects one of the greatest men who ever lived.
Your guide will show you around, tell you the real stories about Bob Marley’s life, some conspiracies and answer any questions you may have. Take it all in. This is Nine Miles - the place that influenced Bob Marley to write some of his most influential and famous lyrics. This is where the King of Reggae was born.
After leaving Nine Miles and this amazing experience, your guide will take you down the mountains to Discovery Bay, where you will have the opportunity to stop and get some lunch at the famous Scotchies
. Here you can sample some of the best Jerk Chicken or Pork in Jamaica and watch as it is cooked fresh over a pimento wood fire on site.
If you are Vegan or Vegetarian, there is a cool little Rasta Vegan Restaurant close to Bob Marley’s home that your guide can take you. Just let him know in advance.
The final stop on this excursion will be for Shopping
at Montego Bay. This is an optional stop and you can choose to spend more time at the Bob Marley Museum instead. Just let your tour guide know in advance and he will be happy to accommodate.
